eeePC and OLPC: which is right for Mischief?
There's an interesting article about the eeePC claiming it could become the iPod of personal computing - that's a pretty brash claim. I haven't posted my OLPC thoughts yet (got mine recently) but I'm not enamored with it.
Designing for populations in developing regions is so vague - grouping "them" together produces statements like this:
"The eeePC was positioned for lower income segments in
developing nations, the "next billion" customers in emerging markets
and so was designed for their needs. This it does very very well. It
meets the design specifications required for this audience and it just
so happens, because it was designed so well and so clearly positioned,
it has also caught the eye of anyone and everyone who appreciates just
what they've managed to do so effectively. How?"
